Life in Japan!!
So, I keep getting hits on my site for "Living in Japan" and "What to expect when I go to Japan", so I've decided to make a little website about my experiences here.
I first went to Japan in 2005 for a week long tour. I was amazed at how completely different the culture was. I fell in love with the country immediately, especiall with my homestay family who went way out of their way to make sure I had the best experience ever. Which I did.
At the time, the things that impressed me the most were first, that all rumors I'd heard about Japan were actually true, second, the amazing beauty of Japan's natural areas, and third, the variety of textures and building materials all around the cities. At every corner of Japan I find three elements intertwined - something traditional, something technological, and something natural. For instance, a vending machine under a sakura tree.
Here are some pictures from that time:
the past
the future
the natural
the technological.
icecream for the kids, beer for the adults
a giant pink thing
don't eat historical materials
Mm... Milky.
The second time I went to Japan to study abroad for a semester at Kansai Gaidai, near Osaka. It's the most memorable experience in my entire life. If you're truly interested in my time there, I've posted all of my adventures on an LJ site, starting here.
This is the third time I've been to Japan. I work for Nova, teaching English. I live in Kobe, near Sannomiya, which is a great area. If you have any questions about Japan, or want to be on my mailing list, feel free to email me - Jenshinobi@gmail.com
